4ο Dimotiko Sholio Edessas, Greece

Our school, 4ο Dimotiko Sholio Edessas, is a morning Primary School with 11 teachers and about 120  pupils from 6 to 12 years old. It is located in the second settlement of Edessa, at the northern entrance of the city, and occupies two floors in two buildings.

The main building was built in 1930, while the second one, which houses two classrooms and an all-day school, a multipurpose room, and several utility rooms, is a modern building which was built in 2008. A normal school day starts at 8.15 and finishes at 13:15. Then only pupils we wish, attend the all-day school with longer hours and an enriched curriculum, till 16:00 p.m.

Priority is given to children of working parents and to remedial teaching for pupils with learning difficulties.

Our school is experienced in multicultural European projects, having participated in a Comenius school project and in a KA219 Erasmus+ project.

Additionally, members of the staff had been involved in international projects, so they are familiar with the processes and responsibilities of international programs, thus having gained significant experience in the management and implementation of European cooperation programs with exchanges of visits and good practices, for the benefit of its students.

Our main goal stems from our wish to develop the European dimension of our institution with the cooperation of schools coming from different parts of Europe, through knowledge-learning of geography, history, and culture and in general through topics referring to the countries of its participant schools.

By doing so, our school aims to be present in corresponding programs, leaving its doors and windows wide open, in Europe, in culture, in new ideas, and in the human relations of its peoples.
