Mystery call

As part of our Erasmus plus project entitled “Our Cultures-Our Treasures”, in which 4o Dimotiko Sholio Edessas-Greece participates together with 4 other European schools, students from partner schools took part in an online activity entitled: “Mystery Call”.

During this activity, which took place,on February 2nd  and 3rd  2021, a group of students of our school had an online communication with groups of students from Spain and Slovenia.

During their communication and according to the activity, they had to find out, through general geographical questions which partner school the students with whom they communicated with were from, something that only the teachers in charge of the communication knew.

After the discovery of the country, the students from both schools  asked each other  general questions about their schools, their place / city / country and generally presented data from the culture of their region, such as education, natural environment, traditional songs and dances.

Congratulations to all the participating students for their exemplary presence ,their active participation and enthusiasm. The atmosphere among the participants was very friendly and we agreed to renew our appointment at a next meeting, proving for once more that distances among countries are not an obstacle to communication and cooperation of students from different countries.

Aesop’s Fables

Aesop was an ancient Greek mythologist and mythographer.Aesop was probably born in 625 BC.He is the most famous of the ancient mythologists, the undisputed father of ancient myth. It is also considered the leader of the so-called didactic mythology.

The myths of Aesop have a special grace, a wonderful simplicity and unattainable
didacticity! They are taken from everyday life and nature.
Aesop has a unique ability to give animals human qualities, soul
to such an extent that you consider that this was once the reality and everything that is narrated has happened.

These early stories are essentially allegorical myths often portraying animals or insects e.g. foxes, grasshoppers, frogs, cats, dogs, ants, crabs, stags, and monkeys representing humans engaged in human-like situations.

The moral of the fable ‘the ant and the cricket’,that our students chose to share with our partners, is that ” if we enjoy today then we will surely suffer tomorrow” as in the poem the cricket just sung day and night in the summer but the ants did work day and night. So now, in the winter the cricket is dying of hunger.

Among the most famous fables are the following:
