Art Stop

As part of an Erasmus+ workshop about famous painters, the 4th grade students represented some famous paintings….

The main objectives of introducing art into the educational process were, the development of Critical thinking and Visual literacy. To conquer the visual literacy, we worked in three directions: The student as a viewer of works of art, The student as a critic of works of art, The student as producer of works of art.

The planning of activities was based on experience learning and elicited physical and emotional responses. Our students studied the works of some artists and then gave flesh and bones, to some of them. What did they do? They became models themselves trying to represent these great paintings! They posed in front of the camera with confidence and the result will surely impress you!

Works of art are an unknown, often incomprehensible, fascinating world, and in order to decode its messages, our students activated their own senses and emotions. The children’s contact with works of art and the artistic currents of various times broadens their intellectual horizons and cultivates their creativity

The Slovenian school will create a slide show of photos from all partners with the local regions’ architectural symbols and heritages. A school exhibition highlighting the variety of our rich architectural heritage will be organized in each school. It will allow all students to discover the similarities and differences between our European cultural patrimonies.

In the following video the process of the implementation of the the above mentioned activity is presented.

traditional song

Μήλο μου κόκκινο (red apple of mine)

The students of 3rd grade worked cooperatively, sang and recorded the traditional song:'Milo mou kokkino'
Action evaluation was done with questionnaires to students, teachers and parents

It is a love song from Macedonia. A young man’s love has met with no response. The girl he loves avoids him.  He calls her “apple” and “pomegranate”, like a nice, sweet fruit.  In his attempt to go close to her, the young man speaks to the girl’s mattress, as if it was a person. Her mattress informs him that the girl has gone to the fountain to drink water and fill her jug. This phrase is metaphorical.  The fountain of a village was the place that young people met, by chance or not.  Maybe the girl has gone there to meet somebody else she is in love with and in this way she refuses to see the man of the song. The young man’s disappointment as well as the girl’s refusal show their feelings which are true and simple, personified by natural and physical things.

ART CALENDAR

Students from each school of our partnership visited a museum/gallery( physically or virtually),  learnt about local or national artists and pieces of art.

Then ,they made coloured drawings on A4 paper about their artistic heritage. They reflected on art after visiting museums thus achieving a balanced growth as social beings in tune with their culture through project work.

Each school sent two of their best drawings  to the Greek school that undertook the task to create a calendar for the project. Each partner  contributed to the creation of two calendar pages(the Slovenian and the Greek school offered to make three paintings each)

The Greek school constructed and will print the final calendar of the project.

5 hard copies will be handed out to the partners during the meeting in Portugal on March 2022.

For reasons of sustainability we chose to create a calendar for the years 2024-2025. Therefore this final product can be used after the end of the project.
